Hilom is the Tagalog word for “healing.” It is also the Bisaya word for “quiet.” These languages are my mother tongues. Hilom aptly describes the transformation that the streets of Toronto underwent during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, while most of us were confined in our homes.

This group of photographs was selected by Patricia Yeboah of HXHOUSE as part of The BLVCK Collection, featuring BIPOC artists whose work “connects to the community’s voice in today’s world.”

Hilom was displayed at Hashtag Gallery, Remote Gallery (Akin Collective) and the Centre for Social Innovation (Spadina) in Toronto.
