What happens to a city when suddenly her streets are silent and void of people?
Stand/Still chronicles the quiet transformation of the spaces we leave behind. These images reveal a life apart from us, and a city awaiting our return. Lustiva-Espina uses a film camera during numerous solitary excursions, a process as unhurried as a city in suspended activity.
Stand/Still is part of a collection of photographs taken in Toronto during the early waves of the COVID-19 pandemic, and featured in Spectra 2022, Gallery 44’s entry at the Scotiabank Contact Photography Festival in Toronto.
Stand/Still was also published in Issue Two of Circe Magazine in March 2023. To purchase a copy, click here.
